The Nostradamus 2012 End of the world Predictions

“In the sky will be seen a great fire dragging a trail of sparks”

Nostradamus was born in France in 1503 and became known for his prophecies about the future. He was a pharmacist and a healer and when he was around 50 he developed an interest in the occult sciences and started writing almanacs. Even during his time he became famous for these and many people used to come to him for horoscopes and asking psychic advice. He then started summarizing his prophecies putting them in quatrains which are four lines poetic para in French. He created about a thousand of these undated quatrains into a book called “The Prophecies” for which he is very famous even today. Nostradamus wrote in a cryptic style and his quatrains needed interpretation. Many have found that most of these predictions have been accurate and his prophecies are very highly regarded by astrologers and those in many occult circles.

Nostradamus died in 1566 and his predictions continue to be studied and in particular the 2012 Nostradamus predictions are getting a lot of attention, firstly because the year is coming closer and secondly his predictions seem to match predictions from other sources like the bible, Mayan and Gnostic texts and so on.

It is important to keep in mind that Nostradamus predictions are never clear cut and he writes symbolically and hence different people interpret these symbols in various ways. The following has been interpreted as predicting 9/11.

“In the year of the new century and nine months, From the sky will come a great King of Terror… The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new city… In the city of York there will be a great collapse, two twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb third big war will begin when the big city is burning.”

The 2012 Nostradamus predictions paint a bleak picture of massive destruction and havoc brought about by a comet. It is not clear whether this comet will strike the earth or will pass very close to our planet, causing massive earthquakes and other cataclysmic occurrences. But all interpreters of his quatrains are united on the opinion that it will be a comet which will come somewhere in December 2012. Nostradamus writes in one of his quatrains –

“In the sky will be seen a great fire dragging a trail of sparks”.

This line describes a comet and many are of the opinion that it will be very big in size. Certain interpreters put the size to be just a little less than the planet Jupiter, and if such a comet passes close to the earth the effect of its gravity will cause the oceans to rise and also give rise to earthquakes.

Another theory is that the even though the comet will pass close to the earth it might cause an asteroid to shift course and impact the earth. Such an impact will be the size of several atomic bombs and will cause massive destruction. Some predict that the superpowers of the world will send atomic missiles to break this asteroid in space, but still there will be a shower of hail and fire from its fragments.

Nostradamus Doomsday predictions also gives an indication of the fate of certain nations, and how long the comet will be seen in the skies.

“The Great Star will blaze for Seven days” meaning the comet will
be very near the earth for seven days and nights.

and

“The Huge dog will howl at night, when the great pontiff will change lands”.

The great dog is taken to be the United Kingdom by many interpreters, and the line suggests its destruction. The pontiff is taken to be the pope and hence Rome too will be destroyed.

2012 Nostradamus predictions also suggest that because of the massive destruction caused by the comet there will be widespread anarchy and certain nations can take advantage and plunge the world into a third World War.

“After there is great trouble among mankind, a greater one is prepared. The great mover of the universe will renew time, rain, blood, thirst, famine, steel weapons and disease. In the heavens, a fire seen.”

One of the quatrains says –

“King of terror shall come from the sky. He will bring to life the King of Mongols.”

This line has been interpreted that after the coming of the comet China will gain prominence and might start attacking countries to gain supremacy.

It is also believed that other quatrains of the Nostradamus 2012 topic have been published including the mentioning of both the Antichrist and other theories for the 2012 the end.

Significance of the Winter Solstice and the December 21, 2012 Predictions

The Doomsday or End of world predictions focus on December 21, 2012 which is the Winter solstice. This is an important time of the year for those in the Northern Hemisphere who follow a seasonal calendar.

In the Northern Hemisphere, including Europe, this is the shortest day of the year. In traditional pagan societies it is a time of imbalance and a time when the male gods are in charge of the hunt. The winter solstice signifies the return of the sun when days start to get longer and the nights get shorter.

So the start of the Winter Solstice is when the sun and the planet start to move from darkness to light with the next significant event being the Summer Equinox when the days and the nights are equal.

There is a lot of talk of the winter solstice and this date but in the other hemisphere they are not experiencing a winter solstice. On continents such as Australia and South America, it is actually summer not winter. So for them the shortest day for them comes in June, not in December.

So December in Australia and other southern climates are enjoying the longest day on December 21. While this still makes it a Winter Solstice, the implications are different depending upon where you live. In the Southern Hemisphere, our planet is on its path into the dark half of the year; while in the Northern Hemisphere, our world is moving towards light.

Both types of solstice involve the movement of our planet from imbalance towards a time of balance. The Mayan calendar and many other ancient civilizations also tracked these movements. The Mayan date chosen to mark the end of the Mayan Calendar reflects perfectly the concept of gradual shifting and a time of change.

While many doomsayers declare it to be the “End of The World,” there are others that see it merely as indicating a time of change. In his book End of days Apocalypse 2012 Al Figueroa has researched all the 2012 data and written a book that examines many of the different 2012 prophecies and theories including an in depth analyses of the date and the winter solstice.

The gloom and doom predictions for Doomsday 2012 may be a misinterpretation of a time of change. This change may be sometimes violent, but the ultimate result might be for the best, as it means balance and harmony – Not the End of the world 2012.

Thus the Winter Solstice becomes a symbol of the ongoing change that is typical of the natural world with its seasonal movement from one phase of life into another one proceeding gradually as Mother Earth. As is the case of nature, December 21 can be violent or pastoral in its passage from 2012 into 2013 and beyond.
